In this studio course, students will be introduced to and given the space to explore the principles of packaging and environmental design by working on a series of exercises and projects aided by research, readings, class discussions, group critiques, and presentations. Both of these practices of the graphic design discipline allow the exploration of familiar graphic forms, as 3-dimensional configurations on the one hand, and within navigable spaces on the other. The course is structured to familiarize students with the different components of both practice areas, attending to a range of possible approaches, applications and scenarios; from the commercial to the noncommercial, and from the practical to the speculative.
